Kelly Jones has been coaching youth basketball for the last 6 years. He guided his 4th grade boys to the PVYB championship a few years ago and has been coaching Perk Valley Boys Travel the last few years. A native of South Jersey, Kelly played for Moorestown High School ('92) and graduated from Temple University ('96). Kelly values player development and helping athletes grow as leaders on and off the court.

Doug is joining the Monstar's coaching staff this year to coach the 7th Grade Boys team.  Doug grew up locally as a multi-sport athlete and attended Old Dominion University (ODU) where he played baseball and graduated with a BS in Business Administration (1991).  After playing Division I baseball at ODU, Doug played with the Montreal Expos in their minor league Class A baseball farm team located in Bradenton, FL. 



“I am grateful for the opportunity to join a first class organization like the Monstars and cannot wait to get started.  I have been playing or coaching for over 30 years and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with the players.  My biggest attribute is the ability to connect with my players to improve their skills and maximize the talent in each of them.”

Coach Hoff will be back coaching his 13u girls team as they move up to 14u this season. Along with coaching at Spring Ford High School where he serves as assistant for Junior Varsity Coach Hoff is the founder and President of the Monstars AAU program. In his 4th season of the Monstars Coach, Hoff is to proud to have helped build a program that serves as an AAU opportunity for the best players in Southeastern PA. The Monstars will continue to build on its already strong reputation. Whether it is the numerous high school coaches in the program or the high level tournaments we are committed to entering, the 2017 season will be our best one yet!

Zach Melcher returns to the Monstars for his 3rd season. Playing his high school basketball at Boyertown, Zach has returned to his alma matter to coach at Boyertown Middle School East as well as assisting the high school program. Coach Melcher also has experience working with the Berksmont Vipers AAU organization.


"Having the chance to coach for multiple AAU organizations, I felt the Monstars was the best fit for me."

Kevin Moratelli is entering his 7th year as a hoops coach. He started off as the JV boys assistant coach at St. Mary's School in Schwenksville. He has been a Varsity assistant there for the past five seasons. He's been involved in the Monstars AAU program for the last two years, serving as an assistant coach on both 9th grade and 11th grade boys teams.

Coach Citro has been involved in youth sports for over 20 years. He is currently the head coach at Penn View Christian (Christopher Dock Middle School). This will be his second season with the Monstars as he was the head coach of girls 14u gold team last year. Before coaching at Penn View, Coach Citro coached at Corpus Christi catholic grade school where he won championships on the boys and girls sides on multiple occasions. After coaching at Corpus, Coach Citro went on to coach SHYBA travel and other rec leagues around the area. 

Coach Engro is known around the Monstar ranks as the "King of Recruiting." Coach Engro over the last 3 years has built a Monstars team with every local programs' best Freshmen. This type of talent has helped this Monstars team win over 17 tourney championships in 3 years. Along with these tournament championships, Coach Engro's troops have qualified for nationals in the past two seasons.

Coach Moyer will be back for his second season with the Monstars. Coach Moyer began his coaching career at Spring Ford High School where he served as an assistant during the mid 1990s. Coach Moyer then went on to join the staff at Ursinus College where he coached until the early 2000's. Most recently Jeff has coached in the Perk Valley Youth Program for 9 years as well as assisting at Definitely Sports All Star Basketball Camps. Coach Moyer remains committed to positive coaching alliance and continues to help grow the Monstars as a premier AAU program. 

Coach Detwiler joins the 2017 Monstars with an impressive resume. With over 30 plus years of coaching experience, Coach Detwiler has won multiple PAC 10 championships as well as a District 1 title. Having coached at the high school level for decades, Bill is excited about teaching Monstar players what it takes to be a successful high school basketball player and to prepare them to play at the next level.



"What attracted me to the Monstars was the fact that they have players from multiple high school programs. This will give me the chance to work with different styles of play and help grow this already strong program." 

Leland is currently the Head Junior Varsity Coach for the boys basketball program at Pope John Paul II High School. Leland also serves on staff as a varsity assistant for the Golden Panthers. Coach Taylor will be entering his second season with the Monstars returning to coach the 17u girls and returns his entire roster from last season. Coach Taylor guided his team to 3 tournament championships last spring. After graduating from Pope John Paul II, where he won a Pac 10 championship, Leland went on to attend Cabrini College where he graduated with a degree in business.
